Boulder Opal – from Queensland, Australia
This is a solid natural cut and polished Yowah Nut Opal from Queensland.
The stone is a double-sided freeform teardrop shape with intricate patterns with flashes of pink, green and blue.
Approximate dimensions are 35.5x31x10mm, weight is 18g. Carat size is 91.5ct.
Only found in Western Queensland, Boulder Opal formed millions of years ago in seams within ironstone or sandstone boulders where silica rich water seeped down into cracks and crevices and over time formed opal. Only a rare few will exhibit the amazing patterns and vibrant colours associated with this type of opal.
