Boulder Opal – from Queensland, Australia
This is a solid natural cut and polished Yowah Nut Opal from Queensland.
The Cabochon is a double-sided freeform teardrop shape with intricate patterns, and bright flashes of green, blue and purple.
Approximate dimensions are 40×30.5x8mm, weight is 16.5g. Carat size is 83ct.
Only found in Western Queensland, Boulder Opal formed millions of years ago in seams within ironstone or sandstone boulders where silica rich water seeped down into cracks and crevices and over time formed opal. Only a rare few will exhibit the amazing patterns and vibrant colours associated with this type of opal.
