AUSTRALIAN MADE
Natural Solid Queensland Wood Replacement Opal Pendant with adjustable waxed cotton cord.
The small stone is a freeform teardrop shape. The stone has a light base colour with flashes of bright orange, green and blue.
Approximate dimensions are 21x11mm. Carat size is 7ct.
The pendant is threaded with a black waxed cotton cord with two sterling silver beads to hold it in place. Total weight is 3g.
Only found in Western Queensland, Boulder Opal formed millions of years ago in seams within ironstone or sandstone boulders where silica rich water seeped down into cracks and crevices and over time formed opal. Only a rare few will exhibit the amazing patterns and vibrant colours associated with this type of opal.
In the case of Wood Replacement Opal, the spaces where organic matter has broken down has been replaced, over a very long period of time, by opal. You can often see the structure of stems or other vegetation visible within the opal.
