Natural Solid Queensland Yowah Nut Boulder Opal Pendant with adjustable waxed cotton cord.
The pendant is a freeform high domed diamond shape. The stone follows the contours of the yowah nut and has dark ironstone surrounding translucent purple and moss coloured opal, with multi-color flashes of red, orange, green, blue and purple.
The pendant has a sterling silver bail and beads.
Approximate dimensions are 19x14x7mm. Carat size 14.5ct.
Total weight of pendant and cord is 3.3g.
Only found in Western Queensland, Boulder Opal formed millions of years ago in seams within ironstone or sandstone boulders where silica rich water seeped down into cracks and crevices and over time formed opal. Only a rare few will exhibit the amazing patterns and vibrant colours associated with this type of opal.
