Natural Solid Queensland Boulder Opal Pendant with adjustable waxed cotton cord necklace
The pendant is a double-sided freeform oval shape which has been drilled through the face of the stone. The matrix contains pinfire of bright green, blue and purple opal.
Approximate dimensions are 40x21mm, carat weight is 10.3ct.
The stone is threaded with a 2mm diameter waxed cotton cord with a sterling silver bead to hold it in place. Total weight of pendant and necklace is 13.5g.
Only found in Western Queensland, Boulder Opal formed millions of years ago in seams within ironstone or sandstone boulders where silica rich water seeped down into cracks and crevices and over time formed opal. Only a rare few will exhibit the amazing patterns and vibrant colours associated with this type of opal.
