Natural Solid Queensland Boulder Opal & Sterling Silver Pendant
This is a unique, handmade pendant, incorporating a natural, cut and polished Yowah Nut kernel from Queensland, set in solid sterling silver stamped 925 on the back.
The stone is a Yowah Nut Centre with bright colour, which is quite rare.
The stone is cut to follow the contours in a freeform teardrop shape and has a translucent light purple and blue background colour running through the centre of the stone, front to back. It has flashes of bright blue and green when viewed from different angles, and some natural fractures can be seen running through the stone.
The stone is approx 20mmx15mm and is 8.5 ct.
Dimensions of the pendant are approximately 40mmx20mm.
The pendant comes with a 45cm (18″) solid sterling silver chain.
Only found in Western Queensland, Boulder Opal formed millions of years ago in seams within ironstone or sandstone boulders where silica rich water seeped down into cracks and crevices and over time formed opal. Only a rare few will exhibit the amazing patterns and vibrant colours associated with this type of opal.
