Natural Solid Queensland Boulder Opal & Sterling Silver Pendant
This is a handmade pendant incorporating a natural cut and polished Yowah nut kernel Boulder Opal from Queensland set in solid sterling silver stamped 925 on the back.
The stone is a freeform oval shape of a predominantly bright purple translucent colour, with bright flashes of blue and green when viewed from different angles.
The stone has a natural small internal fracture line which can be seen in pic.6 bottom right-hand side.
Dimensions of the stone are 16x11mm and dimensions of pendant are approximately 47mmx23mm.
Only found in Western Queensland, Boulder Opal formed millions of years ago in seams within ironstone or sandstone boulders where silica rich water seeped down into cracks and crevices and over time formed opal. Only a rare few will exhibit the amazing patterns and vibrant colours associated with this type of opal.
