Natural Solid Queensland Boulder Opal & Sterling Silver Pendant
This is a handmade pendant incorporating a natural cut and polished Yowah nut kernel Boulder Opal from Queensland set in solid sterling silver stamped 925 on the back.
The stone is a freeform oval shape with a dark ironstone surround, with a clear translucent cemtre with bright flashes of green, blue and purple.
Length of the pendant is approximately 39.5mm. Total weight of pendant is 6.6g.
Only found in Western Queensland, Boulder Opal formed millions of years ago in seams within ironstone or sandstone boulders where silica rich water seeped down into cracks and crevices and over time formed opal. Only a rare few will exhibit the amazing patterns and vibrant colours associated with this type of opal.
