Natural Solid Queensland Boulder Opal, Chrysoprase & Sterling Silver Pendant
This is a handmade pendant, incorporating a natural polished Boulder Opal from Queensland & a Chrysoprase cabochon set in solid sterling silver and stamped 925 on the back.
The main stone is a freeform teardrop shape which has dark ironstone host stone containing surface opal predominantly bright green/blue in colour. The opal exhibits multi-colour flashes of bright red, orange, yellow and green when viewed from different angles.
Dimensions of the main stone are approximately 14x12mm and weight is 4.4ct.
The smaller set stone is a teardrop shape natural chrysoprase, approximately 13x9mm, weighing 3.3ct.
The overall size of the pendant is approximately 43x17mm including the bail.
Only found in Western Queensland, Boulder Opal formed millions of years ago in seams within ironstone or sandstone boulders where silica rich water seeped down into cracks and crevices and over time formed opal. Only a rare few will exhibit the amazing patterns and vibrant colours associated with this type of opal.
Photographs have been taken in various lighting conditions.
