Natural Solid Queensland Boulder Opal & Sterling Silver Pendant
This is a handmade pendant incorporating a natural cut and polished Yowah Nut Centre Boulder Opal from Queensland set in solid sterling silver stamped 925 on the back.
The large cabochon is a double-sided freeform oval shape. The stone has a dark ironstone surround and rings of opaque moss coloured opal. There are smaller areas of translucent purple and bright flashes of red and blue when viewed from different angles.
Dimensions of the opal are 45x29mm, carat size is 81ct.
Dimensions of the pendant are approximately 73x30mm.
Total weight of pendant is 21.4g.
Only found in Western Queensland, Boulder Opal formed millions of years ago in seams within ironstone or sandstone boulders where silica rich water seeped down into cracks and crevices and over time formed opal. Only a rare few will exhibit the amazing patterns and vibrant colours associated with this type of opal.
