Boulder Opal – from Queensland, Australia
This is a solid natural cut and polished Yowah Nut Opal from Queensland.
The stone is a freeform oval shape with intricate patterns and multi-color flashes of red, orange, yellow, green and blue.
Approximate dimensions are 34x29x6.5mm, weight is 9.7g. Carat size is 49ct.
Only found in Western Queensland, Boulder Opal formed millions of years ago in seams within ironstone or sandstone boulders where silica rich water seeped down into cracks and crevices and over time formed opal. Only a rare few will exhibit the amazing patterns and vibrant colours associated with this type of opal.
