Natural Solid Queensland Wood Replacement Opal Pendant with adjustable waxed cotton cord necklace
The pendant is a freeform double-sided oval shape with areas of opaque tan and translucent green and blue opal with flashes of green, blue and purple.
The pendant incorporates a natural Fluorite and a sterling silver bead to hold it in place.
Fluorite is thought to promote emotional balance and clarity and is associated with the heart chakra. It is believed to focus the mind and neutralize negative energy.
Approximate dimensions are 22x17mm. Carat size is 14ct.
Only found in Western Queensland, Boulder Opal formed millions of years ago in seams within ironstone or sandstone boulders where silica rich water seeped down into cracks and crevices and over time formed opal. Only a rare few will exhibit the amazing patterns and vibrant colours associated with this type of opal.
In the case of Wood Replacement Opal, the spaces where plant matter has broken down has been replaced, over a very long period of time, by opal. You can often see the form of stems or other traces of vegetation visible within the stone.
